    When a 511B is a 511A

I don't make this stuff up folks.

Like an old tramp i used to know, they sure do clean up fine!

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Of course the jock strap isn't including those brackets in the sale, just trying to suck in the unsuspecting with the pics. Hopefully, he gets what he's looking for and enjoys the paypal dispute soon to follow.

    Just my .02 of course.............

I think I saw the drivers by themselves a day or two ago..... or maybe he's got several sets. I'd like to know how they look so perfect. They look better than I'd imagine they would have when they were made.

    Lemon Pledge and good photography.

Never use Pledge on any wood with a quality finish, but it is great for shining soft plastics, and lots of other non-porous surfaces like tire sidewalls. It also makes a pleasant smelling lubricant for testy sliding patio doors which suggests it probably has a good silicone content.

Maybe they've been inside speaker cabinets all these years--like a time capsule?

I waxed my 808-8As and they didn't look THAT good. To me it looks like he polished everything and repainted.

That's just it....... at least from the pictures, they look better than from a time capsule.

pledge or similar household product, natural outdoor light, no flash, i promise the photography is helping them a lot.

Look at the phragms in the boxes, even they look better than real.

Maybe the pics have been further tweaked in a graphics program or something.

I wish i could make my pics look like that.

You're probably right. I guess it's the skeptic in me, figuring he's trying to pass a restoration off as extremely good condition originals........ not that restored would be bad, if done well.

    Re: When a 511B is a 511A

Being a Photoshopper for quite some time I can say they do look professionally shot, but unless he re manufactured the rubber altec stamp it's not a repaint. In the one picture you can see the stamp crossing from the aluminum over into the black. Although it doesn't look like it travels over onto cover and in that pic the covers look like a slightly different matte than the body so I'm betting the covers were a repaint. Even in the other picture the blacks don't match. they do look pretty but Isn't his price a little high?

What I really like is the hardware the horn is mounted on. Custom made, or Altec made? I don't recall seeing any mounts like these before. I have a set of 311-90's I want to mount on stands like these. I think they look pretty cool.......Just reread the listing. Altec brackets. But it's a first for me.
